oldest of 5 children. She was born in an industrial town near Liverpool and left school at age 12 to work in a cotton mill. At 16, in the thick of World War I, she and her co-workers stood silently in their factory while German zeppelins floated overhead, only to drop their bombs in a nearby canal by mistake. She was added onto GRG's Table E on 10th September, 2011. She lived in North California at the time of her death. Has one son, Norman Ramos, aged 88. She lived with him until an year ago. When she was 99, she wanted to go to England again. Longevity runs in her family. One of her siblings lived to age 99, another to 89 – and her mother, Della Mae Cummings, lived to almost 102. Her son, Norman Ramos, is 88 and still living.

EDIT: Avice Clarke sadly passed away on 17th January, 2012.
