Kathleen Grimwood (19 August 1901 - 25 January 2012) was a British supercentenarian, who at the time of her death, was one of the oldest people in Britian. She died at the age of 110 years, 159 days. She was a twin. She was the 2nd of twins born. It was thought she would not make it past her 1st birthday, but she made her 110th. She was a resident of Sudbury. She met the Queen in 2009, and thus became the oldest person to recieve the Royel Maundy Money. Her funeral took place in St Peter's Church, Sudbury. She was buried in the Sudbury Cemetery , next to her twin sister Gertrude, who passed away in 1992. In the afternoon of her funeral, about 100 people ranging from those who cared for her in her final years to those who had known her since childhood, gathered at St Gregory’s Church, where she was a regular worshipper until just two weeks before her death. She retained her independence to the last. She always put her good health down to the fact she had worked hard. Her close family friend, Lord Andrew Phillips said: “In all, her life was marked with integrity, decency and kindness which permeated her very being. Her spirit was totally magnificent.”
